The UN Tries to Stop Climate Change With Blockchain
On January 22, the United Nations announced the foundation of the Climate Chain Coalition to solve the problem of climate change by using Blockchain technology.
According to the UN report, the purpose of the Climate Chain Coalition is to explore options for using Blockchain and distributed ledger technologies in support to climate action. These technologies could strengthen monitoring carbon emissions, facilitate clean energy trading, track greenhouse gas emissions reduction, allocate funds and much more.
The Climate Chain Coalition is founded as a result of the One Planet Summit, which took place in Paris in December 2017. During the meeting, 25 organizations working on Blockchain agreed to collaborate and established the open global initiative. Today, there are about 32 members and the search for new members continues.
