January 11, 2018. Vladimir Putin at the meeting
According to a report from Russian news agency TASS, Russian President Vladimir Putin told about possible future regulation of cryptocurrencies in Russia.
At a meeting with media leaders the president discussed risks of cryptocurrencies and the need for legislative regulation of the cryptocurrency market. “This is the prerogative of the central bank at present and the central bank has sufficient authority so far. However, in broad terms, legislative regulation will be definitely required in the future,” he said.
Vladimir Putin also stressed the need to prevent the situation with the cryptocurrency, “as it happened with deceived equity construction investors”.
The president’s meeting with media leaders took place on January 11. At the same day, Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseev told reporters that the Russian Ministry of Finance expected to introduce a bill including rules for circulation of cryptocurrencies until the end of February this year.
